The essential part of biofabrication is scaffold geometry (as well as its internal structure) verification. Computer tomography is an option. But what is the most appropriate procedure in the case of hydrogel-based tissue scaffolds? Is it always necessary to add a contrast agent to the hydrogel before biofabrication (e.g. bioprinting) or the scaffold can be incubated in a solution of the substance afterwards? What kind of agents do you use and in what concentration. Please share your experience. Thank you in advance!
P.S.
We used to conduct CT-verification of the scaffold without the contrast agent. The results were satisfactory but still could be improved…
