I intend to purchase a low cost simple vibrating sample magnetometer. The field value around 1 T is enough. No need the cryogenic facility, I will take the M-H loops at room temperature. Just now we have applied for a project inwhich we kept 70 Lakhs INR for VSM. exact specification is not available with us right now. But, it should be electromagnet based and it will go atleast 2 T.
Simple VSM of any brand would cost more than 60-70 Lakh INR. Instead you can assemble it by procuring different components. The major parts are 1) Electromagnet with power supply of our choice to generate fields even more than 1T, 2) Lock-in amplifier, 3) Vibrator, 4) Pick-up coils, 5) Sample holders, 6) Display system, and 7) Associated software. Of course you have to work hard to realize the unit, but can be done at half the price, I think.

I've interested in the same question and found the manufacturer (macryel.com) in Russia, who produce such "low cost" VSM. The price is about 80000$ for VSM with 13000 Oe magnet and about 50000$ with 200 Oe. Of cause this price is maybe not low cost enough, but it is 3 times (or even more!) lower, then at "well-known" suppliers. Hope that this information will be helpful.
