Hi,

I'm disinfecting Nepenthes seeds for tissue culturing and been getti g a low germination rate. Not sure if its my protocol 420mg/l Nadcc, with sugar for 12 hours or I'm getting old seeds...or both? I don't want to have too rich a medium and since they have an endosperm  I decided to use just plain agar to germinate them but now wonder if that is a good idea. Can microbes grow just on plain agar? If not then If my seeds germinate on plain agar and there's a chance they aren't totally clean then once on 1/3 ms the microbes would flourish any thoughts on this.

Thanks,

Steve.
