I have used phloroglucinol in inducing higher root induction in various species of medicinal orchids primarily dendrobes. In a recent study, I have found using different classes of cytokinins there is a change in the rate of clonal variability in different stages of sub culturing. However when these different PGR derived plantlets are subjected to root induction using IBA and phloroglucinol there is no such significant changes. The rate of induced variation is remaining static at 7-8%. General perception is cyokinins like BAP induces clonal variability. Synthetic auxins like IBA/NAA also accounts for the same. However when using PG with auxins practically the rate of increment in variability is getting arrested. What can be the probable cause behind such a result?
