Hello everyone,

I have been trying to find a reliable and reproducible method for extracting miRNAs from whole blood. I am aware there are PAXgene tubes, however the blood samples are collected in EDTA tubes. I have found several kits that extract total RNA from frozen blood but are incapable of seperating miRNAs. I was thinking of using TriZol LS, and then purify the samples using a miRNA purification kit (miRVana or Machery-Nagel NucleoSpin) and later purifying it futher to get rid of any phenol contamination using RNeasy MinElute Kit, but am hesitant due to the fact that doing all of these steps will dilute or degrade the few miRNAs that I am able to extract with TriZol. If anyone has any experience with this matter and would kindly give some suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards;

Ege
