I am working on DNA damage and repair in chemoresistant AML. Developing resistant cell line is taking quite some time, so if any one wishes to share AML cell lines( eg. HL-60, THP-1, Kasumi-1 etc) resistant to any DNA damaging drug ( Eg. Doxorubicin, Mitoxantrone etc..)would be of great help.
Such cells have been around for decades and several are available at the ATCC, while many labs have cell lines resistant to specific drugs, including our lab. Anyway you need to be more specific because chemo-resistance is a very vague term. Any compound is a chemical molecule, so by definition every treatment is chemotherapy, also the so-called targeted therapy. The latter is of course not targeted because they have many targets (sometimes called off-target, but an off-target effect for one tumor is a target for another). The compounds can be very toxic as well and can cause severe DNA damage. Hence one resistance mechanism does not exist, but are dependent on the drug. It van be a trasnporter, an activating enzyme, an efflux pump, an inactivating enzyme, intracellular traficking, DNA repair, etc.
Take your pick from these mechanisms and drugs.

I agree with Dr. Peters - you need to be specific about the mechanism of resistance as there are many cell lines developed with resistance to specific drugs or classes of drugs. For example anthracycline resistance resistance can arise from increased drug efflux or mutation in topoisomerase 2, different mutants are available either from ATCC or sources in the literature. It may be beneficial to include multiple cell lines with distinct mechanisms of resistance to demonstrate the importance of the resistance mechanism you are investigating.
