Hey, i am working on oral probiotics, using MRS agar for lactic acid bacteria isolation, but now getting yeast contamination with bacterial colonies. how to prevent yeast growth on MRS agar without affecting bacteria?
How about adding antifungal agents (e.g., Nystatin, Amphotericin) in the growth media?
sir i tried potassium sorbate for yeast growth inhibition. as per thermofisher (MRS AGAR, Code: CM0361) but the result is still same.
I see. The effectiveness of potassium sorbate is depends on pH of growth medium. Typically it works well below pH 6.5. Consider optimizing the pH and concentration you are using. Also, I would suggest to use antifungal drugs, if possible.

The suggestion to use an anti-microbial is a good one. Yeast are eukaryotes. They can be inhibited by cycloheximide.
