What procedure would be the best to get active spores even after 6 months? At commercial level when I get Trichoderma spores in bulk amount I need to store it but unfortunately its not working after a while. so at what temperature, in which type of box/packets I should select to preserve Trichoderma spores in a propery way?
fungal biocontrol agent on foliar parts for plants. Trichoderma is storeged by a long term storage method in envelopes kept in the container with a small amount of desiccant at -20 C .

Hi,
To my mind, I recommend following these steps to you:
1. Culture Trichoderma isolates on PDA medium
2. After 5 to 7 days, isolate some plagues (5 mm diameter), and transfer them to some sterile microtubes (1.5 ml);
2.1. If you access a freeze-dryer machine, you can dry them;
2.2. Or you can add 1 ml distilled water to each tube;
3. Eventually, you can keep them in 4 C or -20 C.
Also, you can prepare some sterile small pieces of filter papers (1 cm diameter), and add them on PDA and culture Trichoderma isolate on it. Then, Trichoderma will be grown on the papers, so you can transfer them in a sterile petri dish and keep them in -20 C.
I have used these methods for the last 10 years, and it works.
