We are using several approaches based on the literarure (i.e., 10 microM retinoic acid, 1% or 3% of FBS) to differentiate SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells into "neurons" to neurotoxicity estudies, but cells die within 5-6 days of treatment with retinoic acid. Is there some important thing that I am forgeting? Is retinoic acid prone to oxidize and become neurotoxic?
