In my opinion, and please check with another people:
1- create your model.
2- apply the boundary conditions and loads (I prefer applying Displacement for the loading).
3- specify the Time at the end of load step.
4- save this load step by: Solution >> load steps options >> write LS file
Now, you created LS1.
5- delete the applied load and put another load, and change the time at the end of load step.
6 save the load step same in point (4)
Now, you created LS2.
then u can make more than two load steps in the same procedure.
7- now, we will assume we created 4 load steps, then we have to solve them all together in one solution as in the next point (point (8)).
8- solve the model by: solution>> solve >> from LS files >> and put start file from 1 to 4in the box.
Preferences – structural – OK
Pre processor – Element type – Add – Add – solid – 20 node 95 – OK – Close
Material properties – Material models – Double click on structural, linear,
Elastic, isotropic
Ex = 2e5
PRXY = 0.3
OK
Close the dialog box
Meshing – Mesh tool – size controls – global – set
Size element edge length – 2.0 - O.K.
Mesh tool – Element attributes – Click on the tab global set
Loads – define loads – Apply – structural – displacement – on areas – pick at
the two side and bottom edges – OK
DOF’s to be constrained – all – OK
Loads – Define loads – Apply – structural – displacement – on key pts – pick
the max. no. of key pt at equal distant – OK
Force as per data
OK
Go to Ansys tool bar and click on
Save DB
Solution – solve – current LS – OK
Solution is done – click on the tab - Close
General post processor – List results – Nodal solution

Thanks to all, my requirement is, i have to apply load, that load have to reach within 2 secs (Ramped loading), then from 2 to 4 seconds same load must act on the geometry, then after four seconds, within 1 sec i have to remove the load (unload), so, loading-2 secs, stay the load-2 secs, remove the load in 1 sec. One cycle within 5 secs, similarly remaining load. I am stuck in how to stay the load for 2 secs, also when i remove the load displacement shows in power of 12.very minimum load why i unable to get zero deformation after the removal of load. i am doing elastic deformation.

If i have a loading as below:
t=0, Force = 1000 (N).
t=0.5 (s), Force = 1000 (N),
t=1.0s. Force = 0.
So, i will have two load steps.
Assume that, i have a simple supported beam. And the loading(above) apply at middle of the beam.
So, how can i apply the loading on the beam? (GUI method).

I think LS1 is stepped load and LS2 is ramped load. Am i right?
