Hi everyone,
I want to import an STL geometry (surface meshed with 2D meshes) into ANSYS APDL. After importing, I also want to mesh the structure with SOLID187 elements to convert it into a solid structure. Is there a way to do this?
APDL seems to have options only for solid CAD imports, and I couldn't find any useful documentation on this.

Mirhan Özdemir I am not an Ansys user. If you have a .stl file, you can process it first with MeshLab to inspect it. Then, export it to Rhinoceros and convert it to any CAD format using Grasshopper scripting. After that, you will be able to use it in Ansys. Mirhan Özdemir You might use VisPER to import your .stl file. A re-meshing feature is also available. Afterwards you can export a PERMAS .dat file. Pre-processors like Ansa, Meshworks and Hypermesh will convert it into Ansys .cdb format.
