I have fungal contamination in my incubator and I want anything that may help me to get rid of this contamination because it's bothering me in cell culture or any work inside incubator.
I washed incubator by hot water and alcohol 75% then 99% but I don't know how to eradicate this fungi
Hi Mohamed, Formaldehyde fumigation is an economical and effective procedure commonly used for disinfectant laboratory equipment (room, incubator, safety cabinet etc.). For this formaldehyde is used in combination with potassium permanganate (KMnO4). After washed with alcohol than add approximately 1g potassium permanganate to 2ml formalin in petri plate and put inside incubator for overnight. Fumes may harm so you can used that incubator for 1-2 days after fumigation.

unfortunately i wanted to try this method in my Lab but my supervisor told me that this method are forbidden in Japan and they used it before but now I can:t use it >> so any one have other solution for this monster called Fungi
Upps.. Why don't try to autoclave the racks in the incubator and clean incubator with first with detergent and then wipe with distilled water and finally wipe with alcohol. Than, if you have in built decontamination procedure for CO2 incubator?
An incubator with automated decontamination facility aids in bringing temp to 95 C inside the incubator..
Please checked it's possibility time for changing HEPA filter..
Some times, technician recommend to put in with copper sulphate solutions in the water reservoir..
You could try this out...
When you clean your incubator, clean carefully the small fan in the top part of it with ethanol or any specific detergent you have. If your source of contamination is hidden there, it will easily spread in the incubator and in your cell culture. If the problem does not allow you to work because your cells get contaminated, you can add nystatin to your cells, it is usually well tollerated. Put SDS in the water reservoir, it helps.
I already wipe the incubator with hot water and wash the racks inside it with boiled running water then i washed with alcohol 75% and 99% then but sodium hypochloride into the water rack inside incubator, then no contamination for 3 days but today i was depressed by new fungal growth on my tissue culture plates saying "good morning I am still with you"
thank you Valeria for answer but I read before that the using of antifungal drugs into the media may affects in the cell characters specially for my case that i am using primary cell culture not cell line but about SDS it's my first time to know this
Is Liquinox available in your country? I use this one in my lab. In addition to its disinfecting and anti-pyrogen properties, it leaves minor residue.

thank you Jeannie i used only sodium hypochloride and i seems to be good the contamination level decreased but not terminated
