Religious and sectarian divisions have existed since ancient times, and all the peoples of the world have lived in harmony and stability despite the differences. Today, we are happy to celebrate the feasts of our brothers Christ, and in return they also rejoice in our holidays. The hatred, the discrimination and the attempt to show the oppressions between us is a political agenda that affects only the sick minds Thank God we are not them. Every year and you are good, our Christian brothers.

Religious festival may bring happiness to the society. The problem in my opinion is the EGO of human beings.
If the leaders of the different countries and religions guide their people without ego, they may bring happiness to the society.
Poverty, fundamentalism and lack of education, these are three of the major causes of division. Maybe, just maybe, people would finally understand that we are born to be generous and collaborative. Merry Christmas (to those who celebrate Christmas), and Happy Holidays to all!

Yes it can when those celebrating be kind, help the poor & needy as well as share their joys peacefully with others that are not celebrating.
Why there is divisions yet in the society instead ?
Reason being we lack of respect for others & lack of tolerance with others' differences. We have to see big picture and think win-win.

Religion is supposed to be the panacea to societal disunity and racism but this has been hijacked by fanatics/fundamentalists and politicians to do their bidding for selfish gains. Gone were the days politicians must seek counsel and guidance from the 'religious' but it is the reverse in this age and therefore the disastrous consequences unleashed on society.
You cannot eat your cake and have it simultaneously. Notwithstanding, the prince of peace is birthed today and may his everlasting peace reign in the hearts, minds and consciences of all men!!!.

There will always be divisions where there is freedom of belief. In fact, there will always be division even when there is not freedom of belief. This is because humans who examine God and faith are all on a personal journey even if their choice is to not believe at all. No one will be at the exact same level of understanding as another because no one will have experienced the same things in their lives. No one can be introduced to the Word of God at the same time. Neither can all receive the blessing of wisdom simultaneously. There is a constant revelation of the glory of God in nature, the powerful destruction of God in nature, and the beauty, power, and wisdom of God in all things. Yet, there is also a great discord with the personal belief in a savior and someone who is culturally forced to obey certain manmade laws. Sometimes it is hard for people to separate the authority of God from the authority of those in power who claim to represent Him. So, until mankind stops imposing and interpreting God instead of listening and obeying God which I am afraid will never happen, there will be disharmony. I believe there is only one God, one path to salvation. Others believe that doing good deeds will pave the way. Another believes that they will find peace only if the human race is rid of those who do not believe the same. I do not think man or woman does any good on earth apart from the blessing of God. So, I honor God by celebrating the birth of His son who was sent to die for my sins. I pray for salvation of loved ones and those who are lost that I do not know who may live down the street or across the ocean. I pray that I will be humble in the face of other beliefs as a good example of what God wants and not what I think. I rely on what He says will honor Him and now what I think is the right thing. He says something is wrong or sinful, therefore I must in love agree that there are certain behaviors that are wrong because He said so in His word. I pray that each person will know the blessing of the true God and understand that Christmas is not just a nice fairy tale but the history of salvation. Because God has given us free will to choose, I pray that our eyes, ears, and hearts will be open to the Savior who came to earth as man to save us. He will come again but in the Second Coming He will separate the wheat from the chaff. So I repent of my own sin, prayerfully bring others in prayer, and glorify God until the time when there will be eternal peace under His glorious reign.

I believe the so-called divisions in society have existed for long times, and will continue to stay till end of our human civilization, although the boundaries have become, and should become, more obscure as time progresses, the point is that these divisions in society should always be seen with an open, rational mind, whenever the visions have become distorted and fanatical it has brought disaster to human race in general, we should appreciate this existence in diversity of ethnic and cultural divisions, but never should forget to observe the underlying "unity" in this diversity, that we are all humans and we are all made of the same elements of the mother nature.
