Hi all,

I am currently trying to analyze mRNA expression of mitochondrial encoded genes in musculus gastrocnemius of rats. Concerning primer design I designed my primers with the mtichondrion complete genome FASTA by NCBI, because as far as I understood, mitochondrial DNA has almost non introns, meaning the complete genome sequence should be almost the same as the mRNA sequence. Further on I entered the range in which the gene of my interest was located and so I got several primers as a result. Now I just wanted to know, if this is the right way to design primers for mitochondrial encoded genes or if you have any suggestions for me.

Thanks a lot!
