For Scanning electron microscopy based trichome analysis of the leaf samples fresh samples can be preserved?

For SEM-based analysis of trichomes (soybean plant) can we preserve the samples collected for some period of time? or after following standard fixation procedures it can be preserved under low temperatures?

Trichomes should be easily preserved if you place the leaves in a standard EM fixation solution and keep it at 4 degrees C.
