I am looking for the fate of stop codon when it comes within the protein sequence, is it skipped or place a random amino acid? Shortly, Did anyone experienced double stop codon in mRNA?
The stop codon is usually obeyed, and the gene in only partly translated.
There are some circumstances where 'read-through' occurs, but this can be associated with disease and dysfunction. Sometimes it is normal for a proteins' stop codon to be 'read through' or skipped, and this leads to extra new sequence being added to the C-terminus of the full length protein.
