I wanted to know any affect of continuous light (LL) and continuous darkness (DD) on the circadian rhythm of clock genes expression on fish pineal at 24 hours time period, mainly clock and bmal genes. LL and DD is the free running condition here any environmental cues does not works. So in this situation the clock genes showing any rhythm or not like 12L-12D condition?

By definition, circadian rhythms persist (at least for some time) in the absence of environmental influence (e.g., light/dark signal). Most of these rhythms are under the influence of the master circadian oscillator in the brain (mammalian SCN, analagous systems in other taxa). That said, moving your fish into a DD environment should not influence the persistence of the rhythm of gene expression. What will likely change is the period and amplitude of the rhythm.

I am working fish pineal. According to my experiment I didn't get any rhythm of clock gene expression when I kept my fish under DD and LL condition for 7 days during summer season, but I got rhythm of clock gene expression under same condition during winter season. I didn't understand what is the actual reason behind this. So clock gene expression is season dependent or not?
I would not be surprised if you found a seasonal dependency in the stability of clock gene expression. Also, the LL and DD conditions could result in different patterns of clock gene expression. In both birds and mammals, LL often results in a fairly rapid shift to arrhythmia in circadian function whereas the DD condition generally results in expression of the free living rhythm.

Thanks for your good suggestion. I understood but the clock gene expression is different depends on the species to species. Might be vary from fish to birds or mammals. LL or DD is the free running condition here no zeitgebers. So the expression of clock gene showed expression under LL or DD condition for the certain time. kindly you explain me in details. Under winter condition might be phase shift is little bit early.
