Basically the ilocano notion on the “naimbag a nakem” revolves from the ethos on the two (2) ilocano words “imbag” and “nakem”.

• “Imbag” connotes a positive view of being that embodies the impression of goodness which is synonymous with integrity, dignity, honesty, honor, respect, decency and righteous. It is a positive value that the will and conscience can distinguish what is right or wrong which actions and intents prevails the good deeds and acts. The ilocano prefix of “na” from the word “naimbag” provides the meaning of full being.

Generally, the word “naimbag” establishes moral and spiritual statement on specific good deeds and action. It transverses with ethical value : (1) In the internal locus of attitude ,the deeds and actions by individual provides the moral and spiritual ground for the goodness or righteousness in his/her heart; and (2) In the external locus of attitude, the individual acts as the “good Samaritan” view that perpetuates the genuine heart and soul on deeds and actions of individual.
