I am more worried about Google, Facebook and Twitter and what the personal information they have About all of us! Europe just enacted laws to curtail their ability to invade people privacy in Europe.

We live in a world where there is no hidden place. Everyone is a target.

perhaps my relatively low intelligence quotient is the reason why I have not yet found an echo in the interests of higher intelligence. With the lower RG intelligences I occasionally receive critical reminders. Of course I don't use Facebook or any other social media channel. Smartphone is only used in case of a call for help or an urgent notification. If you feel you are a target for intelligence services and feel threatened by them, the first thing you should do is part with all IT media.

I think so, and you will be targeted in two ways, either the competitor will work on your failure and stopped your progress, or someone trying to take advantage of your intelligence and try to win you by all means.

Intelligence operations are run by all governments. It serves a useful purpose- to protect it's citizens.

The problem is to find a balance between beneficial surveillance and intrusive invasion of privacy.

Google and Facebook has been adopted willingly by people- we accept the risks- the perceived benefits outweigh these risks for people that use these websites. If people choose to abandon these websites, then there is nothing holding them back.

Do people with an IQ lower than the population average (e.g. the definition of IQ 100 in the calibration sample of the intelligence test) not have the right to participate in a discussion in RG (the discussions of which sometimes appear to be imbecile, weak-headed (IQ 90) because questions and answers are only about the "RG score")?

Are these people of below-average intelligence something like "life unworth living", whose rights - for ethical reasons - have to be restricted? The Germans had such a time between the years 1933 and 1945. I don't suppose that is meant that way, and I would ask for a more detailed explanation.

No. I am in line with Amir W. Al-Khafaji But to complete the question: When the borders opened in Europe in 1989/1990, I had the opportunity to get my personal 'dossier' from the 'intelligence archive', which falsely stated that I worked as CIA reporter. All these state bureaucracies are far from efficient and effective, nepotism is strong; their attachment to the military-industrial complex is obvious, so disinformation and psychological warfare are paramount. Unfortunately, all this has to be paid by the average tax payer, who can easily become a target of professionalized dilettantism, if time and chance are wrongly tuned.

Stephen, all such dossiers are inaccurate. Unfortunately, that can still make them dangerous-in fact even more so.

But what about the protective role of Intelligence agencies?

I think we have to accept that as we engage with social media and live lives with a real world and online duality that is increasingly hard to disentangle. Our privacy is compromised and a result we are open and subject to active data mining. I don't see that intelligence community access to my data and life as a personal intrusion, rather we are swept up in the wave of big data analysis from east an west. If as result of our work or opinions we are highlighted as person of interest that is some thing we have to accept and manage the risk.

The level of risk that presents has to be personal assessment. I would however suggest, that we are individually at greater risk of intelligence derived persecution from our own governments than we are from a foreign body. This applies even in Western Europe. The flip side to this is that, this monitoring is often part of the programs tackelling cyber crime, fraud, extremism and child exploitation. To spot the crimanal or thoes with less than moral intentions or predelictions a lot of innocent people will be looked at, but not acted upon.

Perhaps! There is a chance. Furthermore, I believe maybe most of us are being watched by the intelligence agencies one way or another through our smart phones, computers, or security cameras, or etc.

In this gobal world, the Big Brother forseen by George Orwell is, say, an omnipresent reality. This means that eventually we lost our privacy and are almost always being watched by, for exampe, intelligence agencies, hidden cameras, computers, social networks, and the like.

Intelligent people are often an enemy for the satus quo and the mainstream because they tend to be innovators and creators, not conformist people. Because of this, the more we are intelligent the more we tend to be watched for either good of bad reasons. As I realized that all RG members are intelligent people, all of us may be a target of intelligence agencies.

Let me add that intelligence agencies may not be as intelligent as they judge to be the case. This has do with the definition of intelligence, which is far from being a unitary concept. For example, psychometric and quantitative intelligence, such as assessed by one's IQ, has little, if anything, to do with Piaget's idea of a qualitative intelligence (e.g., formal operational intelligence), with Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences (e.g., spatial intelligence) or with Goleman's emotional intelligence.

Even though we are being watched by many watching agencies, I long for a world wherein the idea of a sphere of personal jurisdiction or privacy is an effective reality. However, I am afraid that me more the world is scientifically and tecnhologically advanced, the more we are doomed to being deprived from our private and intimate life. We live, in fact, in a paradoxical world. On the one hand, watching agencies may be a beneffit for the society at large on some occasions, such as preventing us from possible misdeeds from mafia's organizations. On the other hand, watching and the so called intelligence agencies constitute a real danger for our privacy and private life.

You raised some excellent points there. I think in many cases we have already given up our privacy through social media. We share more about our lives and work in public, professional and special interest forums (online communities) than we ever anticipated we would. However separate these are or how seperate we perceive them to be. They remain vulnerable to determined or skilled data collection specialists. That is even before we consider the information that is held on us by other banking, professional, faith based and legal systems.

I think privacy in the western world is already an illusion. Unless you take steps to live off the grind, but then you become limited in the scope of your ability to function in an inframantion driven system. If then you chose to use the dark web to hide your on line presence, while your visibel foot print is reduced, just like a black hole is seen by the fact that it can't be seen, so the absence of a digital presence that is contary to a real world existance casts a shaddow of suspicion that invites further investigation.

Therefore the best way to hide is to hide may well be in plain sight, control with care what is seen and encourge the perception that all that is of interest has been seen.

If that is too much effort. Accept your visibilty. We are all virtual naturists now. Take off your shorts and hangout with the rest of us.

In my article it states that US information’s produced every day 2.300 information’s about US and others persons. As I explained in a previous article HUMINT human sources collected facts that go to the analisys process and then become information. So, if 2.300 information’s are produced daily sure 20.000 notices/facts are gone to analysis.

All the people that write in sites like this, Face book or any social media are a source. Academics, due the nature of their work, even if it is archaeology they are sources.

All telephone communication obtained by Echelon (see my paper) are sources. Big brother has people and money to observe, collect and analyse all.
