Do mitochondria from different species have completely similar ion exchangers?

I am trying to optimize swelling assay for isolated mitochondria from the zebrafish embryos. How much is it feasible that the assay used for yeast mitochondria isolation will work with zebrafish and if the mitochondria from yeast should be alike that of zebrafish?

My guess is 'feasible'.

Mt are considered as the origin of prokaryotes. Mt from most species have similar functions and genes are also homologous among the species in animal kingdom.

Perhaps, multialignment of several typical Mt genes drawn from NIH would help you determine transferrable Mt assays between the two species (or other matching two species i.e., more close in molecular evolutionary terms amphibian and fish).
