can be done in rabbits by giving single subcutaneous injection of isoproterenol (0.20 mg/kg, i.p.).

We are working with Ischemic models in our laboratory both Global and Focal. Where we are inducing ischemia by surgical process. Up to now there is no chemical model available which is  fully validated in animals. But you can use Endothelin-1 (which is a protein and a potent vasoconstrictor) to induce focal cerebral ischemic. You can go through the following paper for more information on animal models of stroke.

new born mice pups can be exposed to hyperoxia (75% O2) for a few days. We use p5-12. Once retrieved, the mice suffer an hypoxic shock that lasts a few days.

Also, some models of hypoxia add CoCl2 to drinking water for hypoxia-inducible factors upregulation, but I have no experience with these models.
