The nCounter® SPRINT Profiler by Nanostring Technologies is said to be used in DNA, RNA and Protein profiling from the same sample. Will the result be considered if I don't do Western Blot to validate my Gene expression studies?
since you can compare data issued from the same technology without the doubt of bias introduction, the idea is to use the same samples on the same technology, I mean to use expression cartridges and protein cartridges on the nanostring just to see if both counts are correlated.
The answer first depends on what genes and proteins you'd like to profile. There are panels produced by the company that come with mRNA and protein probes, to which you may be able to add a few custom probes of your own. However, if you want to profile a large panel of custom mRNA and protein probes, you will need to supply your protein antibodies to the company to be conjugated to probes, and this can get expensive, but it is not impossible. Your question would be a fantastic one to ask your NanoString technical representative, as they can give you the list of mRNA and protein probes on their pre-made panels as well as help you design your experiment.
