I am trying to perform a biochemical assay which requires me to take readings for reduction in NADH levels at 340 nm. Could anyone kindly suggest what plates should I be using. I currently have some 96 well plates but they have an absorbance of around 0.100-0.120 with just water at 340 nm.
Clear polystyrene plates have a small absorbance at 340 nm, as you observed, but that is not really a problem as long as you aren't pushing the upper limit of your plate reader's capability to measure absorbance values (I would not go above 2 AU as a rule of thumb, although you might be able to go as high as 3 AU in some plate readers).
If you really need to lower the 340 nm absorbance background, you can buy UV-transparent plates that are made of some other plastic, such as acrylic. They are much more expensive that the polystyrene ones. They allow UV measurements down to about 240 nm.

De toute façon dans les lectures d'absorbance il y a toujours un bruit de fond qu'il faut soustraire des autres lectures. C'est ce qu'on appelle blanc (blanc réactif)
