I am currently considering SEA(Series elastic actuator) as a candidate for active suspension.
Our system consists of variable damper and SEA.
SEA can have a good force estimation capability and thus can be used as a good actuator for linear actuator.
However I found only a few references of SEA application on this vehicle suspension field.
Lots of application are found in the field of robotics.
I am thinking re-design RF-SEA or F-SEA in order to fit with vehicle suspension system combined with variable damper, which results in active suspension with reasonable design and cost.
Is there anyone who can describe about the pros and cons of SEA for the application on vehicle suspension? Is there any application examples in the field of vehicle suspension?
I need to increase the power and relevant designs of SEA for vehicle suspension (2~3 times larger than that of robotics application's). Is it possible easily? or is there any technical problems with large payloads and versatile driving conditions (i.e. rough roads, bump/humps, ... )
