Hello, I'm currently doing my master thesis and I'm new in the field of hydrogels. I've had success in making chitosan-starch hydrogels using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent, but I want to change the latter for genipin, because I want to use in biomedical research and GA can be toxic. I got my genipin from Sigma-Aldrich and it says is insoluble in water, but I've read some papers that says its slightly soluble in it. I know it's soluble in organic solvents, but I don't know if it could affect the hydrogel outcome, so I wanted to dissolve it in water. Also, I read that to make a stock, it should be dissolved in DMSO (which is toxic to cells) and purged with gas, but I do not want to use another toxic reagent. Can I make a stock solution of genipin in water?
