Can CRISPR play a major role to overcome the world food insecurity issues?

Unlikely. Although CRISPR allows for more rapid and precise genome editing there is still a lot of resistance to transgenic organisms in many countries for cultural and theological reasons. Some of the causes for food insecurity, such as political conflict, are also not able to be solved by genetic modifications.
