Someone working with Crispr Cas9.
I have a question. Is it possible to edit a gene that is present on a plasmid (in this case with a low copy number)? In this case, is it possible to observe any probable phenotype when editing a gene present in a plasmid, considering that there is more than one copy? or Cas9 system works only for genomic DNA? Does anyone know of a case of success in editing a plasmid gene?

Hi, It's a nice question. thank you very much for your curiosity. As far as I know, the CRISPR/CAS(Clustered Regularly interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) system is a gene editing tool and over the years it has been used to edit the gene within the plasmid. People usually do it in two different ways; 1. Isolation or the extraction of the plasmid at first, then the rest. This only happens, if you have somehow cultured the vector containing plasmid within your lab or 2. You can purchase the plasmid and eventually go through the rest of the procedure to initiate and successfully conduct your gene editing.
