Stem cell research that includes the investigating DNA-methylation patterns is allowing for more accurate predictions in breast and ovarian cancer. Stanford's Comprehensive Cancer Center is currently working in association with Ludwig Center for Cancer Research and Medicine. Are you familiar with PD-1 Inhibitor research (BMS CheckMate trials) - PD-L1 expression is seen in a variety of solid tumors and can be upregulated by cytokines. These immune checkpoint inhibitors are allowing for "programmed death" - Another institution to explore would be the University of Cambridge Stem Cell Research & Dept. of Biochemistry.

There is an article/commentary in Jan.16.2015 issue of Science (a copy attached) listing drug targets against cancer stem cells and various molecules in clinical development by biotech/pharma companies. Great to see this progress and hoping to see a drug against cancer stem cells fairly soon....
