Hi all..I have only 2 choices to use to disinfect my seeds/explants. Either bleach or NADCC. I have read the for NADCC longer periods with lower conc is better. Also read adding sugar to encourage spore germination might be a good idea as well. Any thoughts on the ph of either nadcc or bleach have on spore germination? Would first bathing the tissues in a sugar solution with warm heat for a short(?) time encourage more spores to germinate? then add the appropriate conc of disinfectant to that solution. On the other hand if one waits too long to add the disinfectant and the spores germinate and multiply the contaminate then that is counterproductive as well. Would like to design a test based on times/conc with a solution of spores, bacteria and fungi to test the best conc and exposure time for both bleach and nadcc disinfectant. Any thoughts?
