Personally, "I agree with you, whenever I give the teacher the freedom to process the teaching whenever it is created in it, and thus we will reach the required level of learning and get the highest quality education
Each classroom context differs. Teachers need flexibility to plan, adapt practices and theories in their classroom characteristics. Strict regulations might not help.
I guess this gives answer to this crucial question.
I do agree with the statement but its almost impossible now a days. academic autonomy is decreasing day by day .... especially in India after 1991 due to LPG policies education is considered as commodity, teaching only a profession not a mission. so day by day wings of teachers are cut down by privatization
A teacher's freedom of works doent mean whatever he likes to do. In fact here I want to mean the time binding to enter and leave the faculty, bossing, oiling the management for promotion , increament etc. What you mentioned here these are covered by the responsibilty of a teacher, not by bindinhs.
It depends on teacher's competence. If we talk about highly qualified teachers, than yes. Under this competence I don't think only on his/her scientific degree and research competence, but on knowledge, skills, attitudes etc. in teaching methodology. If we have teachers with less methodological competence, giving them too much freedom is questionable.
Thank you for your contribution.Once again i will say you all valued scietists that teaching is a work by heart. If we do not allow to grow up a teacher by freedom how we can aspect a skilled competenced teacher?
Yes. Teachers must be given the maximum academic freedom to try various approaches that work in the classroom. So long as they follow the overall broad policies of the school system Administration should leave high performing teachers alone and reward creativity.
yes, agreed . But must be responsible. Teachers often giving unnecessary motivational speech to everyone forgetting his prime responsibilities, teaching and research.
Ok, with freedom, but teaching isn't just ''a work by heart''. It's, in my opinion, a work by brain, very active, very informed, creative, educated etc. brain. As a teacher, you need to think very fast.

Exactly, it is as you described here. But more about that since my experiences , if I would not like this work or profession, I would not come here. First I loved it by heart and still I am on with its love . More about that from my point of view if anyone does not love this profession s/he may not be a successful teacher by any means. laws, rules regulations cannot fix teachers works. We cannot bind a teacher like factory worker or even a factory manager, an administrator. If we do it, teaching process may hamper as like the process of get memorizing an essay by beating up a student . If it is a teaching process , then , teaching may be cause of serious destruction of the humanity within very soon.
Of course, dear Md Zafar Alam Bhuiyan, we are in the same line. I'm just staring and finishing with ''brain'', but considering positive emotions, attitudes, values, virtues that are necessary for this profession because centre for emotions is also in our brain.
Teachers' freedom of work does not fully guarantee the quality of education, but it is a good start; then teacher preparation is required to encourage meaningful learning.
It is not enough just to recite or dictate information already published as if it were, knowledge already validated, without making constructive criticism of the scientific truth or logic of its contents.

I think that there has to be some boundaries on teachers in my opinion. Of course, this depends on the student level too. However, successful teachers understand the difference between what they have to teach and what their experience tells them their students should know.
I would argue for a maximum freedom because full freedom may hinder teaching- learning process and full freedom is an Utopian idea. There must be some checks to make people work and fulfill their role.
There are always exceptions, some teachers excel and deliver their best when given full freedom but is not the case for all the teachers.
Teachers are a critical foundation of every society’s long-term strength -- providing children, young people and adults with the knowledge and skills they need to fulfill their potential. All over the world, far too many teachers don’t have the freedom and support they need to do their vitally important jobs. That is why the need of the hour is “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers”.
Dr Hussain explained clarly regarding the freedom in teaching, I agree with his opinions. Twenty years back I worked in a private educational instituion, there regulary I had received some rules, regulations in teaching methodology by the management of the Institution. There was no freedom to express teaching potentials, they have their own stratgies to pass in examinations rather than to inculcate the knowledge in the young brains. In Govt runed instituions situtions are quite dirrerent.

You are heartily welcome dear Professor. Nowadays teaching in private organization is one kind of slaving to inhuman and education is totally is handled by the businessman ! Its hurting and bleeding inside and true education will die by the unscrupulous handling.
What sort of boundaries a teacher must? What was in the past in the time of our parents? Teachers were all in all? Were the business persons the entrepreneurs of academic institutions? I think the answer is ''No'' . Why the management committee will bind a teacher with rules for his/her academic purposes? Yes, there may be some issues which should have to be checked out like sexual harassment s and so on. But why a teacher will take pressure for time binding as like factory workers ? Then the teaching will die.
''Teachers' freedom of work does not fully guarantee the quality of education, but it is a good start; then teacher preparation is required to encourage meaningful learning.......''
You are absolutely right . But, still I say a teacher needs freedom for the quality education. Freedom with teacher works there is a chance for quality education BUT kept teachers cannot teach with very minimum quality, its also true.
Teachers have freedom within limits and do make a difference in student learning. The limits must be respected, and the opportunities are transient. Teachers who expect too much will burn out before mid life. Expectations must be realistic and the school policy is a guide to sustainable expectations. The teacher hopes for more and accomplishes much, but some results occur years later from the thoughts that were started in class.
Good discussion. We all need freedom and conducive environment to discharge our duties as teachers. Anything done under pressure could have negative impact.

I have my own style and I cannot teach without my freedom. I had to fight a lot to achieve my position and style for the betterment of my students. I am success and my juniors are following me , my style . I get inspirations. Teaching is not a factory work. Authority should keep in the mind.
Freedom is too big construct that must be defined in the present context for the elaboration of the idea presented.I think teachers should be given freedom in the deliverance of their duties according to their intellectual and pedagogical potential. Not all teachers are equipped with same level of understanding regarding the complexity of education system and interaction of various entities involved in the whole process.Teaching these days is a very complex phenomena and appropriate check and balance is required along with calculated freedom for better outcomes for the students
Teachers' freedom is required not to teach only but for the mental health as well. A good mental health ensures a sound body , a utmost requirement of good teaching to make good citizens of the country.
When I said " wise supervision " , I mean that supervision that gives the required freedom needed for all of us, that is needed for the good mental health .
Kind Regards for you and for Emre Pakdemirli , Nino Durglishvili , and Muhammad Zubair
I agree with the notion of giving maximum freedom to teachers if the selection process entails comprehensive planing to enlist all the potential requirements along the valid are reliable instruments to measure the requisite skills and other requirements.
Sometimes I cant teach when I get upset in my mind lacking of freedom in teaching . My serious concern is that now education is a business by the entrepreneurship of (uneducated) business power. They take decision whimsically. It hurts me seriously.
The great philosopher of times , greatest poet Rabindranath Tagore told: 'Head is strong where mind is without fear' and his another quote is ' Without cheer a n education cannot be successful' .
Both of the quotes are possible when a teacher can freely deliberate his/her lecture without any shortage, shyness or fear. Privately arranged education is like a consumer product unlike the real education is being rendering by some famous institutions. unfortunately , it has been started as an enterprise without branding. So, there is a good business by the uneducated or less educated , wealthy and politically powered people.
So, is there any freedom of a teacher working there? s/he is simply a factory servant of the owner.
In response to your interesting question, I should say that : Yes! I am in agreement with this statement that “'Teachers freedom of work may positively have considerable impact on the quality of education”. I am confident that all of us have good enough reasons for defending such thought. However, in my view, among all reasons, I think that the following sentences given in this discussion may be convincing:
“Teachers' freedom is required not to teach only but for the mental health as well. A good mental health ensures a sound body , a utmost requirement of good teaching to make good citizens of the country.”
However, I think that in order to effectively manage the process of teaching of teachers, we have to have a good definitions for freedom of work for the teachers, design proper standards within which they work, and also, have a good procedures to track and trace their work to kindly and effectively help/assist the teachers to improve their skills as well as work quality.
Quality teaching – which is ensured through the recruitment of high calibre candidates to teaching, the provision to them of high quality initial teacher education and the support throughout their career of continuous professional development. Teachers are the most important educational resource and a critical determinant of quality. They must be treated as respected professionals. Teaching must provide an attractive career choice, and must remain sufficiently attractive, in terms of salaries and conditions of employment, to retain the best teachers in the service.
