We are currently working on our research concerning the efficiency of the chemopreventive agents present in Colocasia esculenta roots in mitigating prostate cancer carcinogenesis. Thus, we want to ask if the process of obtaining prostate cancer cell lines can be lengthy and the type of the prostate cancer cell line that is suitable for our research.
You will have to buy or get froma lab an established prostate cancer cell line. I think that the procedure of getting it from a specimen would be quite complicated.
When you get an established cell line you already know its genomics which will save you a lot of work and time.
It may be more difficult than you could ever imagine. For beginners, it is not advisable. In fact, for the experts, it is a risky experiment on probability. There are important things you need to understand basically. There is a difference between pry cells (directly isolated from tissues) and cell lines (that have undergone a number of passages). Pry cells have a finite lifespan and limited expansion capacity. They require much more nutrient demands to survive, and in the process of adding these requirements (such as high serum level), the growth or differentiation of contaminating cells ensues particularly fibroblast,.....One important thing is, if you fail to achieve this hard-built maintenance system, you may lose resources meant for other materials. The question is, why don't you go for a maintained cell line instead of experimenting with a field you are not familiar with, which is not the core of your pry investigation?
