The phi-index is calculated as follows:

phi-index = (P - R)/te

where, P = depth of total precipitation, R = depth of rainfall excess and te = duration of rainfall excess.

If the phi-index is treated as a constant rate of losses/infiltration, then why isn't it divided by the duration of losses/infiltration and by duration of rainfall excess instead?
