Many commercially available pre-processors and solvers for finite element analysis of forming operation are available. Incremental forming being an unconventional forming method, there are no solvers specifically designed for this machining process. As I understand it, there will be some innovation needed during pre-processing but I need to know which software will be most suitable.
I prefer MARC but I think that ABAQUS or LS-DYNA can be used. You must pay big attention to the definition of tool’s kinematics.
I would stick with ABAQUS or a similar software from a solid modeling package, since they offer a lot of integrated functionality like tool paths and metal properties.
LS-DYNA is better suited to large deformations over short periods of time, and you would have to input all the properties and paths manually.
Never used MARC but it looks like it can get the job done.
All Finite elements softwares have the same acuracy because finite element is the same and dose not change from software to another. The deffirence that could be is the software bibliography and the ovral procedure of modlisation etc..
Each software has its own specialty. I downloaded papers where researchers have used softwares like PAM-STAMP, Solidworks, LS-Dyna and so on. i wanted to know the most appropriate software that i can use. it seems ABAQUS can get the job done.
It is true that each software is a little bit orianted to a speciality (Adina : dynamic) (Abaqus : cevil engeneering) (Ansys : mecanics).
You need some one have been using them all to say which one could get your job easier.
THERE ARE 2 TYPES FEA AND FVM. IF YOU WANT TO GO FOR FEA. THEN GO FOR ANSYS FIRST IN INITIAL. WE CANNOT SAY IT IS VERY BEST. DEPENDING UPON PROBLEM. SO, FIRST DEFINE PROBLEM AND PARAMETERS. ALL SOFTWARE HAVE ITS OWN BENIFITS.
