Epithelial cells should theoretically respond to EGF, but practically cells in labs seem to reject theories. If EGF isn't working, perhaps FGF7 could help. I'd read a paper about its role in A549 somewhere.
Iman Hassan Ibrahim thank you so much! However, I would like to ask you whether you have already tested FGF7 on A549 or any other lung cancer cell line. I already tried EGF but as you said cells are practically non responsive.
EGF promotes growth, proliferation and colonizing ability of the A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell line. Through upregulation of claudin-2, EGF can enhance colonization of A549 cells, as claudin-2 loosens the tight junctions between cells. IGF-I acts as a proliferation and growth inhibitor for the A549 cell line.
