Optimal condition to pellet mammalian cells?

Hello

Is there any optimal condition of centrifugation

(speed, time) to obtain cell pellet in a small 1.5mL tube. What I am looking for is a method of harvesting living cells and floating cells for total RNA extraction. When I centrifuge cells at 2000 rpm in a 1.5mL tube, I loose many dead cells which results in fallacious results.

The second question is whether you know an alternative quick method to scraping or trypsinization to detach cells while keeping floating cells for RNA extraction. My genes of interest are early response genes and thus are affected by the process of scraping and centrifugation.
