The term "Burnout" is very much consistent and relavent to medical science (Own Observation but research supprts). Now a day nemerous researches can be found where researchers trying to use or best fit the term "Burnout" for Human Resouce Mangement, Organisational Behavior or even Psychology.
But if I want to make the "best fit" after medical science, which discipline is more suited and undergo with burnout.

In fact, it is not right to express this situation for a professional group. According to Maslow's hierarchy, regardless of occupation, it is a result that can be expected in a situation where someone who comes to the fifth step cannot live himself. Therefore, I think the most appropriate area for this situation in every occupational group in psychology.
OB... because the antecedents of EB could be from individual ( physical & psychological), group, and organizational factors.
I think it could potentially be relevant and studied by all those disciplines, but I think it would primarily fall under a specific area of psychology; occupational health psychology. It however would also depend on what aspects of burnout one is going to study.
If you already call it "Burn Out" you have to be aware that this is a psychiatric diagnosis; and for that needs psychotherapy.
However I think (as a psychiatrist) that HR management, if well informed and well done (with care for the employee in turmoil) would be less pathology oriented and by that give the person more chances to rely on her resources.

sometimes I think that we- the shrink(and WHO)s are part of the problem of the rise in mental illnesses.... so lets become humble again and leave things (So called diganosis") other people do as well as we, to them.
Peer support - has functioned through history,, depression was an unknown diagnosis as all the other mental diagnoses, such as schizophrenia etc. did not exist; some people in some cultures were thought to be visited by god (or the devil,) and by that already had more -( or less) - prestige, but they were not considered "Ill" diseased- to be treated by doctors...

Burnout syndrome is a psychiatric disorder described in 1974, originally by Freudenberger, an American physician. I understand that association with other sciences is unavoidable because of the natural progress of the other sciences. Thus I consider the term eminently the health sciences.
