higher education implies a certain level of competency, thinking etc. so it is not that easy to discard. a masters or phd student, is a masters or phd student

These separations of differing "types" of education make it seem as though they are mutually exclusive from one another. I'm tempted to approach the question with another question: How do you separate "Self Education," "Good Education" and "Quality Education" from Higher Education? And how did you arrive at those categories?

I have seen many scholars (PhD, DPhil or other pro.degree holders) whose functioning is not relevant to the expected results of quality education, good eduction or even self-education. And seen many individuals who had not by any means of Higher education but their activities seems to me they are highly educated as I did not expect from both.
Finally, my queries are not separating or differing them because this is an established concept (road and street/good and well/need and want/ rural and village and many more). Obviously, something else which creates the difference? If not why types in education?

I'll rephrase: It seems that education, in general, encompasses "Self Education," "Good (or bad, whatever that subjective adjective may entail) Education" and "Quality (or not quality, again very subjective adjective) Education." Higher Education is a term generally understood to mean education beyond secondary education, but usually does not involve trade school or apprenticeship, so that seems fairly defined. So how does one determine a separation of those first three categories from education, in general terms? There seems to be a bit of self education and then (name your adjective) education that is inherent to the educational process on whole and no matter what formative process or route is followed. Don't you agree?
