MRSA are formally classified using different methods such as : PFGE, MLST, spa and SCCmec. However, there are informal methods for characterization and , hence, classification such as antibiogram for a non-limiting example. mecA gene is the basis for MRSA resistance. There are many mutations reported in mecA that are responsible for multiple antibiotic resistance.

I want to know the authorities in Egypt that have useful data about MRSA including it's prevalence, antibiogram, mecA sequencing (genetic characerization).

Kind regards.
