In my experiment i am getting increased expression of HIF-1alpha gene after the qPCR experiments. the results are consistent with allopurinol and other synthetic molecule. Kindly help me with possible explanation and literature for the upsurge in HIF level.
The experiment was done under normoxia conditions.
The compounds along with allopurinol (positive control) have shown good inhibitory potential for Xanthine oxidase, as well as shown prominent attributes as anticancer molecules.
Xanthine Oxidase a molybdoenzyme and can be inhibited by some metals , try to use DrugBank database

Can you describe your experiment with more details?
Remember that it is not only hypoxia that increases HIF-1 alfa. For example overexpression of Sp1 may easily promote HIF expression.
May be you should determine if Sp1 is also overexpressed in your experiment.
