I'm conducting an experiment on a flock of 600 chicks. Conditions of environment are controlled, feed and water are given ad libitum. Starting from the second day we noticed that there is a high rate of mortality. After we did some autopsies, we noticed that most of chicks have their vitelline sacs (that was the common abnormality).
Send samples to the nearest avian pathology lab before moving forward with any kind of intervention/guesses.

The infection could be from the hatchery. The best way is to isolate apparently healthy ones from the sick ones and then confirm the Salmonella species.
I will advice you take post mortem samples and send to veterinary microbology laboratory to be absolutely sure it is salmonellosis. After which you can ascertain the cause is from hatchery, feeds or water and proceed with treatment.
The infection can be from the hatchery or from the vehicle's transport process or from contaminated workers
Please check the hatchery and also the parent stock. A necropsy from an expert can give you the best solution.
You can take swab from died and sick bird to isolate causative agent and choose the effective drug and control the disease.May the infection came from parent stock.
It is necessary to isolate the pathogen in the laboratory, to determine the sensitivity to antibiotics and disinfectants. For the prevention of bacterial diseases from the incubator it is possible to apply an injectable antibiotic before planting the chicks in the room

The salmonellosis disease cause by high protein / high calorie intake by chicks
Separate sick from apparently healthy ones,take pm samples and swabs from apparently healthy ones, labelled according and send to the lab for confirmation. Take samples of water and feed for microbiological diagnosis. As you await results, you could consider adding some vitamins to feed or water.
Firstly ,we should remember that salmonellosis is one of vertical transmitted diseases which may be transmitted from infected breeder.
Usually ,when we raise chicken either for meat production (broiler type) or for egg production(layer),at the first day of the cycle we send some birds to the veterinary laboratory to ensure if the flock is free from salmonella or not. In case of positive results for salmonella we make antibiotic sensitivity test to find the most appropriate type of antibiotic can be used to treat the infection. Salmonella serotyping is important to know the serotype of the isolated strains.

Place the chicks on gentamycin based drug for 7 days with vitamins. Maintain a very high level of hygiene.
