Hi all, I've read that TE-7 is validated for use in flow cytometry, IHC, etc on Merck's webpage and was wondering what fibroblast-specific ligand does it bind to and if it is expressed on the cell surface for it to be useful for live cell sorting of fibroblasts from a mixed cell culture? Does anyone has experience with TE-7 and FACs?
According to Goodpaster et al., J Histochem Cytochem. 2008, it is also more specific to fibroblast to 1B10 and 5B5 antibodies for a variety of fibroblasts. Any comments from experienced users?

The antibody CBL271 recognizes the TE7 epitope but I don't think it's been characterized which protein express that epitope. I know it was discovered as a monoclonal antibody that recognized mesodermal-derived thymic fibrous stroma.

It is a surface marker and you can use it to sort fibroblast but it is also expressed by fibrosarcomas. Usually people gate on CD56neg TE7pos to remove muscle satellite cells. I have also read that TE7 is more specific than other markers.
I have used TE-7 to stain rat dermal fibroblasts and they all were stained positive.
