The professions that are desired to be when they grow up in childhood, often vary in the next choices. Some factors push this change; the inability to reach the required education, university entrance exams, the attractiveness of the professions, the validity of the society, the change of students' perspectives during the education, the pressure of the families and other circumstances may be experienced. What do you think about the factors affecting the choice of profession?
In fact, you mentioned a lot of reasons in your question. Additionally; the income level of the family, the individuals whom the person takes as a model, the person's interests, abilities and ideals can be effective in the choice of profession. Sometimes, people may not be able to do his / her profession due to life conditions. Health professionals and teachers who cannot be appointed due to post-graduate exams and unfair interviewers can be an example to this. I hope we can live in a world where everyone can do the job they want. Because as you always tell us; We must do our favorite profession to be happy for life.

I think you can add personal development. How well the individual knows himself to make that choice and decision. And to what extent the individual ia still growing or has matured.

The choice of our profession depends on many factors. For example I choose to be a psyhcologist, a university professor and a researcher.
To be a psychologist because to understand the intrincacies of human behavior is fascinating in intellectual terms. By understandind these intrincacies, we may help people to cope with the problems people face in their daily lifes.
To be a university professor because I think that only education can save societies and even individuals from possible collapse be it violent os gradual. Of course, education is costly but it is far less costly than its alternative, ignorance. A professor can also play a crucial role in making their students citizens of the world and interested in the pursuit of the true, the good, and the beautiful.
To be a researcher because I think that we only know a little about the universe. To be a reseacher gives me the opportunity to know a bit more on the unknown and hence to advance knowledge in my area of expertise.
As I psychologist, I thing the there are many factors that affects one's profession. Succintly, I would say that people choose their profession as a function of:
1) Their personality and temperament;
2) The social cultural milieu in which they were born and grew up.
3) The complex interactions betweeen 1) and 2).
There was a time at which one's profession was greatly dependent on his/her parents' needs and desires. Fortunately, with the passage of time individuals have more freedom to choose autonomously their profession.
