Hi, i have Qiagen Rotor-Gene Q MDx 5plex real time pcr device. I was using the Qiagen Rotor-Gene SYBR Green PCR Kit on this device before, but it has been discontinued. The company offered the QuantiNova SYBR® Green PCR Kit as an alternative to this kit. At the same time, Jena Bioscience qPCR SybrMaster (PCR-372S - PCR-372L) was suggested as an alternative brand. Can I use these kits on my own device? Which kit would you recommend as an alternative to the Qiagen Rotor-Gene SYBR Green PCR Kit that I used before?
Since your device has a channel for SYBR green, you can use any brand of SYBR green qPCR kits/reagents. I would suggest re-running your standard curves when you switch reagent brands to make sure your linear dynamic range is the same (it should be very similar). You should also not directly compare qPCR results that were generated with different reagents (eg if you have an existing standard curve or data for a reference gene that were made with the old reagents, you should not use these to normalise data acquired from the new reagents - repeat the normalising reactions.)
