The best selection of magazines with a strong degree in the coefficient of influence, but my problem is that I am an Arabic language and it is difficult to translate and communicate with international magazines
With the ever increasing demand to publish, which is triggered by the ‘publish or perish’ culture and a continual desire to meet a high standard, the choice of a journal for publishing scientific articles becomes significant. A publication with many citations and high impact factor can drive me as a researcher. Still, however, I also look for relevance as a central reason for the selection of scientific journal for my publication. Here the focus would be on the potential of the journal to widely or freely reach those who benefits most from the published piece.
As per Dr.Gupta, the criteria are Impact factor, Processing time, Publication fees, indexing.
The points missed are: Open access, Peer review.
But all articles published after covering all above criteria are not good. There are many other points, like
1. Publication of some trash articles with transaction of good amount of publication/ processing fee in many so called famous journals.
2. Journal showing many vague Impact Factors (All other except of Thomson Reuters) to get money.
3. Predatory journals - names are given almost same with any famous journal with impact factor, but trash journal with vague Impact factor publish articles just to get money.
4. Trash journals of famous publishing houses - these are publishing free of cost, just to cite the articles of their famous paid journals. In some cases, these are not published regularly.
5. Journals with quality of getting Impact Factor, but no impact factor is given to them by Thomson Reuters.
6. Journal listed by Thomson Reuters under the category 'Emerging Sources Citation Index". So far I know, The references of the published articles in ESCI journals get some points.
There are many factors related to scientific journal selection for research publication such as publication frequency, journal citation, indexing, peer-review, impact factor, publication fees, acceptance or rejection rate, publishing house, previous submission and online submission process.
I think it depends on your motivation, some times the researcher become obliged to publish within a given deadline to fulfill some study or job requirements regardless of the publication quality, in such a case he looks for quick publication with lower cost... but if the motivation is to have a high quality publication that can improve the author's profile, the author will target high impact factor journals and undergo their procedures and high requirements...
Mohamed Gadallah There are many factors to consider for choosing a scientific journal to publish your work. Such as Aims and Objectives of a journal,
Impact factor, Processing time, Publication fees. But it can completely depends on someone situtation, Aims and Objectives of a journal are very important otherwise your research work will get rejected and you will waste much of your precious time, it's better to check previous issues and published work of the journal to whom you are submitting a paper so that you can get a better idea, if there are more published related work to your research then that journal is for you. Other factors impact factors, Processing time, Publication fees are also important but it depends on a researcher situtation, For example, if your work is a tiny contribution you should submit it to a low impact factor journal and vice versa. Processing time and Publication fees should also need to take into consideration because there are many journals which takes years to accept/reject/publish a paper and there are many journals whtich takes only couple of weeks. Publication fees is also important if a researcher cannot afford such amount then he/she can submit it into a free/having no publication fee/less publication fee journals.
