Hello all,
I'm currently studying an enzymatic reaction system, and I have found a brickwall I cannot pass. Need to mention I'm relatively new to this area.
I have the interest to convert the units from a vmax value given in U/mg to mol/(s*L), as the latter are the units I'm familiar with.
I sense there must be some conection between the two, but I'm unfamiliar with the definition of the unit U, and how the volume "comes into scene".
So far, my train of thought has been the following:
vmax=kcat*Et, with Et being the concentration of enzyme
kcat --> s^(-1)
Et --> mol/L
Thus, vmax --> mol/(s*L)
I've tried substituting the U equivalent units micromol/(min*mg), but that only gets me to micromol/(min*mg^2), and mass^2 is not equivalent to volume.
Hope you guys can help me out.
