I was wondering, does anyone have experience in transferring a cryovial of a cell line from Canada to another country? I know there are companies who do this for profit, but is it possible to carry them in dry ice, in your checked luggage on a plane? If so, which documents were needed for this transfer and how long did it take to gather those?

1. 'World courier' is the most reputed company that carries sensitive biospecimen. It charges a very high.
2. i). You need to have a Material transfer agreement (MTA) between two institutions. ii). The sender institution needs to fill up a declaration form whether the biospecimen contains any infectious agent. iii). Then you have to check with a particular airline whether they have the provision of carrying this biospecimen.
Fedex does this kind of service. They have an option to put dry ice if the transfer need connection, and they will ask to you to fill a form where all information of vial. Or you can choice the World courier ( I have never used it), but it is the most reputed company, as Mr. Salequl Islam said,
I don't recommend to carry the cells in luggage. As cell is living organism, the custom of destination airport will may ask additional document. They will release cell when document passes quarantine inspection.
If the recipient is not familiar with custom clearance and quarantine, you can talk to local distributor who is importing/exporting of cells or any other biological materials.
