Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a polymer derived from natural cellulose that

has been routinely used as a food additive in products such as ice creams, milk, juices and pre-cooked meals, to give them smoothness. Although it is not digestible, still it is considered as non hazardous. CMC is used as an adulterant in milk and fresh juices for thickness. There must be a standard minimum and maximum limit.

For quantification there are method available. But before in-depth laboratory analysis there may be a qualitative test? If anyone have such information, please share it.
