Does anyone have any idea as to what caused a sudden surge of pO2 into a tabletop bioreactor. pO2 increased nearly 5 fold overnight (going from normal to nearly 200) resulting in subsequent cell death over the next few days. All other readings normal. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before. Could it be down to a DO probe?Although this calibrated normally.

There could be many reasons for this. Will be requiring some details regarding this. How was the cells behaving (in terms of growth and viability) before the sudden overshoot and during the overshoot also. Was there any continuous purging of gas during these period? If the probe is culprit then check the voltage of the DO probe.
Hello, can you provide more info for more exact answer. Which media you use in bioreactor and which type bioreactor and condition like temperature aeration etc.
Well, provided that you calibrated your DO probe afterwards, it is unlikely that the probe caused it, especially if you also observe cell lysis. 5fold is typically what you would expect going from air to pure oxygen. So ???
Recently i am in the similar situation. How did you correct it? Was the problem caused by the malfunctioned probe?
