Hello Muhammad, I appreciate your comments on stress-reproduction interaction. It is an aspect so complex that requires adequate attention especially for animal physiologist and geneticist.

Animals in the tropics are faced with a lot of challenges which ordinarily are stress factors that hinders reproductive efficiency of farm animals. A knowledge of its interaction will no doubt provide an effective information that could be applied strategically in farm animal management to improve reproduction. I am interested in this area of research and would like a collaboration where possible.

We do expect to hear your opinions and ideas about the topic.Transportation stress is a very serious concern especially in africa where regulations are highly unimplemented or enforced. Obviously the animal is faced with the challenge of trying to maintain homoestasis in such condition. As a result much of the energy that is supposed to be used for production and/or reproduction is channeled to the physiological processes that are required to maintain a constant body temperature. During transport. the animal is not only exposed to harsh ambient temperature, but also exposed to the challenges of inhaling carbon and other poisonous gases that are harmful to the life of the animal. Now I work on data concerning high morbidity and mortality rates of stressed dairy cows after long transportation - more than 2000 km. Does somebody have expirience with such a problem?

The cows in my research had many peripartal problems and high mortality of calves and cows. Survivors had long service period. what I found until now is that a lot of things are stressors and influence reproductive performance.

I find very interesting this discussion especially because the diversity of researchers who are participating, is interesting for me too the Sahib's research topic because I love the cell biology, and is very striking the mechanism under the cell and mitochondrial membrane can be affected and produce cell alterations that can compromise their viability.

As to sperm, what's I concerned about is how to establish an intelligent method by analysis the data from high-throughput detecting tools. They should be rapid, non-invasive and low cost.

I would like to know protocols of HSP assays. We are trying to monitor the changes in HSP associated with delayed ovulation in crossbred cattle, which is a pathological phenomenon in Pakistan.

Well, you need define if you going to work with an antiapoptotic or proapoptotic HSP. Obviously, this depend of your interest and the vision that you want for your research. The most common HSP studies are HSP70, HSP90 and HSP60. For detection and quantification Western Blot is a good choice. This technique would be supplemented with other techniques in the case of be studiying apoptotic events, for example, TUNEL, SCSA....

I find recently a paper that talk about polymorphism on th hsp70.1 gene (Holstein), and this is related with adaptability to heat stress.... This seemed very interesting because it show us the clear influence of the genetic on environmental adaptation and its effect on animal production and reproduction.
