There are a lot protein kinases. Many are oncogenes (when mutated). Some may be tumor suppressor genes, although I cannot think of any examples right now.
Protein kinases are common as downstream mediators of proliferative signalling such as vascular endothelial growth factor, neurotrophic factor etc. etc.
Actually i want role of protein kinases in causing the cancer from initial steps and list of protein kinase in this regard and at the end i select a particular kinases to do particular research
thanx but i want material to make my assignment ,titled as Role of protein kinases in Carcinogenesis,,i want some material from very initial stage,,,like what are kinases ,,what are their functions ,,who can they mutated to cause cancer
In that case, chose protein kinase C. It is the target of the tumor promoters such as phorbol esters and there is a lot of information out there on it.
Protein kinase=protein involved in phosphorylation # Protein Phosphatase = protein involved in de-phosphorylation
Protein kinase in cancer: PK are involved in cell cycle, in signal transduction, etc. It is a superfamily (PKA, PKC, PKD...)! so, please be specific, otherwise we can write a book! :)
